Tree of Life by Gustav Klimt (1862-1918)
c. 1909
oil on canvas

In the spiralling branches of the Tree of Life are reasonably life like birds and butterflies. This tree design is interesting in that it is the only surviving example of a landscape in which Klimt used gold.
